News Flashes about our Lake and our Community:
June 14, 2021. A thoughtful reminder from Ian Turnbull: I thought it might be useful posting a reminder about fishing regulations. Understandably I’ve seen quite a few boats eagerly trying to get a head start on the bass season ahead of this weekends opening (3rd Saturday in June).A little patience however will go a long way to preserving our fish stocks for sustainable recreational fishing. Many people don’t realize it is actually illegal to attempt to catch a fish species when it is out of season - not just keep an out of season species.
Below is an excerpt from the provincial regulations and a link to their website.
'Open and closed seasons specify the time periods you can or cannot target (try to catch) a fish species. It is illegal to fish for a species during its closed season, even if you don’t keep them.'
