North Frontenac COVID-19 Implications

Emergency Declaration
North Frontenac declared a State of Emergency effective March 27, 2020 and is in effect until further notice.

Township Office
The Township Office remains closed until further notice. If you require assistance please contact the Township by phone, e-mail, mail or mail drop box.

Residents
Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington (KFL&A) Public Health is continuing to advise everyone to stay home as much as possible, to stay local. Continue to hunker down, and stay within your own region, support your local economy, and local businesses. Staying safe, staying local, and supporting local businesses are the best things to do for our region in the coming months. The Ontario government is continuing to urge all residents of Ontario to stay home whenever possible. Please continue to practice physical distancing and in accordance with the Provincial Order regarding public events of over 5 people being prohibited (i.e. do not bring guests to your cottage).

Council Meetings
Council Meetings will be held using electronic participation. Details on how the public will be able to access the Meetings will be posted on the Township’s website prior to the Meetings or by contacting the Clerk’s Department.

Property Taxes
Tax Payment Due Date has been extended to April 27, 2020. Penalty & Interest relief to include May 1, 2020 (providing two months relief) and to not charge Penalty and Interest on any unpaid 2020 levied taxes only (not prior years) for the months of June, July and August of 2020.

Dog Tags
Dog Tags are available for purchase at the reduced rate until May 31, 2020. Please visit our website for further information on how to obtain your Dog Tag.

Campgrounds (Trailer Parks)
Private parks and campgrounds may open effective May 16th to enable preparation for the season and to allow access for trailers and recreational vehicles whose owners have a full season contract.

Boat Launches and Fishing
Boat Launches in North Frontenac are open for recreational use effective Saturday May 16th. Please practice physical distancing, at a minimum of 2 meters (6 feet) at all times while loading/unloading boats and/or fishing on the waterways. Fishing remains open in Ontario and we request you follow all fishing rules and regulations as set out in the Ontario Fishing Regulations.

Waste Facilities
Waste Sites remain open and Summer Hours will not commence until June 15th for 2020 (not May 15th) following the regularly scheduled hours and have protocols in place for safe dumping – please follow signs at Waste Sites. The Re-Use Centre and Household Hazardous Waste Depot will not be opening until further notice.

Recreational Facilities
All Recreational Facilities, including but not limited to Libraries, Community Halls, Dark Sky Preserve, Parks/Playgrounds, Beaches, etc. are closed at this time. North Frontenac Parklands (camping) remains closed per the Province as campers do not have a full season contract.

Building Department
The Province is lifting essential workplace limits on construction and resuming all construction effective May 19th.

Fire Ban
The Province lifted the Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ), Fire Ban effective Saturday, May 16th at 12:01 a.m. There is no Fire Ban in effect for North Frontenac Township.
