Membership

MEMBERSHIP

To be an MPOA member, you must be a property owner on Mazinaw lake (road or lake side), or in the bay that leads into the Mississippi River north of Mazinaw lake. Membership is for a calendar year, from July 1 to June 30. A member is someone who has paid their membership fees for the current membership year. Only one membership per residence is allowed (irrespective of the number of families/people sharing a cottage). If you have two properties, you only pay for one membership. See below for ways to pay.

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

  • The quality of our lake, and our experiences on the lake are paramount to what we do. We represent our members, property owners who have chosen to join, by being a 'collective voice' to attempt to influence government and corporate organizations, where appropriate.

  • We communicate to members on important items that might impact them through emails, website updates, and social media.

  • The MPOA Lake Directory is treasured by, and only available to, members and emergency responders. The directory lists cottage information and contains maps of the lake. Members have used the information in the directory to alert absent owners of issues on their property.

  • We have a private Facebook group for members and their families.

  • The Spring Newsletter is packed with information that you will find yourself referring to throughout the season.

  • There is an Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in the spring where you can meet your board, learn about what they are doing on your behalf, and have your say by voting on important items.

  • We keep in touch with government agencies such as local council, Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority, etc.

  • We are a member of the North Frontenac Lake Association Alliance working together with the other 18 lakes in the alliance on common issues that affect our lakes and region.

  • We are a member of the Federation Ontario Cottagers Association (FOCA) which keep a pulse on what is important to members and which entitles you to FOCA benefits as well.
