Some spring seasons on the Mazinaw seem to be prone to flooding and it is always a good idea in the fall as you are packing up for the season to remove items such as firewood & chairs from your shoreline. It's a good practice to move boats to higher ground and tie floating docks to something stable on shore such as a tree. In 2019, on Easter weekend, the Mazinaw had unprecedented amounts of rainfall that led to extensive flooding. That spring, many people had to go around the lake in search of their dock, paddle boats, etc that had floated away. Having witnessed both, floating docks and Adirondak chairs that are floating just above the water line can cause serious hazard for boaters, especially arriving at dark. The MPOA would recommend that you put your name and phone number on your items in case they do float off, someone can contact you for their retrieval.
The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) is responsible for checking water levels. You can always check out their website at www.mvc.on.ca. Click on the View Water Levels link (upper right corner below the banner), agree to the disclaimer, and then zoom in on the map to see the Automated Gauge Data at the south end of Mazinaw. (To quickly zoom in, click the "4" gauge cluster icon and then the "2" icon. Once you're there, click the upper Gauge Location icon and then the Automated Gauge Data icon.)
